JUAN DIEGO BERROCAL
Juan Diego Berrocal is an author photographer whose work explores the tension between order and chaos, presence and absence, silence and intensity.
Moving through cities with an intuitive and contemplative gaze, he photographs fleeting moments that often remain unnoticed: a figure dissolving into shadow, the geometry of an urban structure, the contrast between artificial light and darkness, or the unexpected harmony hidden within visual disorder.
His black-and-white work is defined by a strong sense of contrast, rhythm and atmosphere. Stripped of colour, each image becomes an exploration of light, form and emotion. His colour photography follows a different impulse — vivid, immersive and cinematic — revealing the psychological energy of the places he encounters.
New York and Japan occupy a central place within his visual universe. Rather than documenting these locations literally, Berrocal approaches them as emotional landscapes. Each city becomes a space of abstraction, memory and personal interpretation.
His photographs do not seek to explain a place. They invite the viewer to experience it.
Through a precise yet intuitive visual language, Berrocal creates images that exist between observation and fiction — photographs rooted in reality, but transformed by timing, composition and perception.
His work is conceived as a collection of singular visual experiences, created for contemplation and presented with a meticulous attention to detail.
